Beginning of Vantler Leather
Hello, welcome to my blog page and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read my blog. I figured that since this is my first blog entry it is only right that I tell you a little more about myself. My name is Pauline Van Houten and I’m the founder and artisan for Vantler Leather. I was born and bred in Malaysia but when I decided to study in Australia I fell in love with it and decided that I would want to start my life in Australia. Who would’ve thought that 6 years ago I was just a girl with a simple mindset hoping that I will be able to support myself, and now fast forward 6 years later, I’m married to my husband Neil for 5 years, we have a naughty but ever so adorable toddler Keona and of course my passion and dream Vantler Leather. Vantler provides custom made leather products with love and dedication.
My journey with Vantler started off 3 years ago when I was still pursuing my degree in nursing. When I first started off Vantler, I was very unsure of the decisions I’ve made. With my fairly new marriage and the degree that I was pursuing I wasn’t sure if I had the time to actually commit to both of these jobs. After I started Vantler, I realised that my passion is to actually help or play a part in strengthening people’s relationships. To me, leather is a very good item that symbolizes the strength, durability as well as endurance and all of that shapes a relationship. I was and still am a sucker for a strong and symbolical relationship with the people around me and Vantler has helped me achieve this passion of mine.
Another reason why I started Vantler was because of my daughter Keona. After she was born, I wanted to spend more time with her because I knew how fast she would grow up. I wanted her to have a life where both her parents are actively involved and I wanted her to be happy. I wanted to be able to experience all the little joys of bringing up a tiny human like watching her flip over for the first time or taking her first step and fortunately, I was able to do so because of my supportive family. I’m eternally grateful that my husband and parents are very supportive of me throughout this journey and they have made things so much easier for me. It is not easy to juggle work and family life but I am not complaining because I am in fact living my dream life.
I understand the importance of relationships because relationship plays a big role in cultivating a rich and fruitful life. It is the essence of life and it brings out the best in people. I hope that this little passion of mine will be able to bring out the best in you just like how it did for me and my family. That’s it for this post and I will see you in my next one!
Much love,
Pauline. x
